These are way easier to make than they look, I promise you! All it entails is baking a cake layer of your choice and making cake pop dough from it. For these, I made a Funfetti cake layer to add some fun color. Here I'll share a few ways you can doll these up to make them look super pretty for Valentine's Day.

Cake Pop Dough

There's no major trick here but the best advice I've gotten is to use a hot cake layer and mix it into a dough. You can use a stand mixer or a hand mixer. The heat will help the dough stick together enough to great a play-doh like consistency.

Add dough to the cone

Add dough into your cone, filling up to the top.

Once you've filled your cones, you can melt the canned frosting so you're able to dip the filled cones.

I prefer to used canned frosting for this because it melts super easily without a fuss. I tend to have problems when I melt American Buttercream and it will start to form a hard consistency.

Melting canned frosting for 30 seconds in a microwave will do the trick. Let is sit for a minute so It's not piping hot, then dip cones.

NOTE: Having a cake cone rack or holders help tremendously.

After you've dipped each cones, add some themed sprinkles. Then place in the fridge to set.

Color Frosting & Fill Piping Bag

You can certainly use canned frosting for these but if you choose to make your own American Buttercream, here is my tutorial to help you through it.

Either way, at this point you'll want to color your frosting and add it to a piping bag that's fit with a 1M or 2D piping tip.

Decorate Cones

By now your cake cones have set and you can add a frosting swirl, sprinkles, glitter and toppers!
